Meditating. According to Websters dictionary. Meditating is defined as
1: to engage in contemplation or reflection
2 : to engage in mental exercise (as concentration on one's breathing or repetition of a mantra) for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness
When mentoring students, I always start with meditation. This journey is different for everyone.

My Basic Meditation Lesson
- Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit away from distraction. Don't have a T.V on, don't bring your phone, and leave your kids and pets with a spouse or friend for just a few minutes.
- Sit or lay down where you are comfortable, but not comfortable enough to fall asleep. Some people like to sit in a chair, I personally prefer to lie on my back palms up in the floor. Turn out the lights if you want. Light a candle or two, some of my students prefer soft music and that's okay too!
- Close your eyes.
- Breathe deep. Inhale and then as you exhale feel yourself letting go of all the stress from the day.
- Don't think, focus on your breathing.
- Eventually your mind will go blank. This is a Good thing. Focus on the feeling don't think about it. Your body is relieving stress and tension.
- Do this for as long as you can. If you become agitated to the point you can't focus. STOP... Meditation is meant to be a joy not a job.
